She was selected for the 1980 Olympic team but Canada boycotted the [Moscow event](/source/1980_Moscow_Olympic_Games). Bailey won all her races on a tour of New Zealand in late 1981, which included three gold medals at the [Pacific Conference Games](/source/Pacific_Conference_Games) in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay.
