Born in [Matanzas](/source/Matanzas), Scull was known as a line-drive hitter and speedy base runner. In addition, he was a fine defensive player at all three outfield positions, playing mainly as a center fielder for the [Alacranes de Almendares](/source/Almendares_(baseball)) during his ten seasons in the [Cuban League](/source/Cuban_League) from 1951–1952 through 1960–1961.<ref name=CubanBeisbol>{{cite web |url=http://cubanbeisbol.com/post/32778450862/angel-scull-havana-cubans |title= CubanBeisbol.com – Angel Scull page}}</ref>

Scull was also a member of the Cuban baseball team which won the gold medal in the [1951 Pan American Games](/source/1951_Pan_American_Games) held in [Buenos Aires, Argentina](/source/Buenos_Aires). Scull won the Cuban League batting crown with a .370 [average](/source/batting_average_(baseball)) during the 1954–1955 season. Besides, he captured five [stolen base](/source/stolen_base) titles from 1953–1954 through 1955–1956 and 1958–1959 to 1959–1960. In 1951, Scull trained with the [Washington Senators](/source/Washington_Senators_(1901%E2%80%9360)) team of the [American League](/source/American_League) then was assigned to Class D [Wellsville Rockets](/source/Connecticut_Tigers), where he hit for a .329 average in 124 games and led the [Pony League](/source/New_York%E2%80%93Pennsylvania_League_(1923%E2%80%9337)) in stolen bases.

He stayed in the minor leagues through 1969, which included 14 Triple A seasons with the [Charleston Senators](/source/Charleston_Senators), [Havana Sugar Kings](/source/Havana_Sugar_Kings), [Toronto Maple Leafs](/source/Toronto_Maple_Leafs), [Montreal Royals](/source/Montreal_Royals), [Syracuse Chiefs](/source/Syracuse_Chiefs), [Atlanta Crackers](/source/Atlanta_Crackers), [Vancouver Mounties](/source/Vancouver_Mounties), and [Petroleros de Poza Rica](/source/Mexican_League_(baseball)).<ref name=BR/>

Scull enjoyed a career highlight while playing with Almendares in the [1954 Caribbean Series](/source/1954_Caribbean_Series), when he batted .391 and amassed a .522 [slugging average](/source/slugging_average), leading the Series with five runs scored.
