# Angad Paul

**Angad Paul** (6 June 1970 – 8 November 2015) was a British businessman and [film producer](/source/Film_producer).

## Early life

Paul was born on 6 June 1970,[1] the youngest son of the billionaire entrepreneur and politician [Swraj Paul, Baron Paul](/source/Swraj_Paul,_Baron_Paul).[2] He attended [Harrow School](/source/Harrow_School) and received a degree in economics from the [Massachusetts Institute of Technology](/source/Massachusetts_Institute_of_Technology).[2][1]

## Career

He was [CEO](/source/CEO) of [Caparo Industries](/source/Caparo), having taken over from his father in 1996. He was also a film producer, with credits including[2] *[Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels](/source/Lock,_Stock_and_Two_Smoking_Barrels)* (1998), *[Snatch](/source/Snatch_(film))* (2000),[3] and *[The Tournament](/source/The_Tournament_(2009_film))* (2009).

## Personal life

In March 2005, Paul married media lawyer Michelle Bonn in a ceremony held at [Lancaster House](/source/Lancaster_House).[4] They had two children.[2]

## Death

Paul died by suicide on 8 November 2015, jumping from his penthouse home, an eight-storey building in [Portland Place](/source/Portland_Place), central London.[5][6] The police stated that there were no suspicious circumstances, and the coroner recorded that he had been "suffering from severe agitated depression".[2][5]

Nearly three years after Paul's death, the Angad Arts Hotel, named after him, opened in [St. Louis](/source/St._Louis), United States.[7]

The 2015 film [*Eddie the Eagle*](/source/Eddie_the_Eagle_(film)) was dedicated to Paul. The movie was directed by [Dexter Fletcher](/source/Dexter_Fletcher) and produced by [Matthew Vaughn](/source/Matthew_Vaughn), who were part of the team that worked with Paul when he produced *Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels* in 1998.[8]
