**Andrew John Pugh** (born 28 January 1989) is an English professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who most recently played as a [striker](/source/Forward_(association_football)) for [Phoenix Sports](/source/Phoenix_Sports_F.C.).

## Career

Pugh signed scholarship forms with [Gillingham](/source/Gillingham_F.C.) in 2005 and made his debut as a substitute in a home defeat to [Brighton & Hove Albion](/source/Brighton_%26_Hove_Albion_F.C.) on 20 February 2007.[2] It was announced on 8 May 2007 that Pugh had signed his first professional contract, a one-year deal with option of another year. In October 2007 he joined [Welling United](/source/Welling_United_F.C.) on a one-month loan deal.[3] On 15 February, Pugh joined [Maidstone United](/source/Maidstone_United_F.C.) on a month's loan.

In August 2008, Pugh joined [Folkestone Invicta](/source/Folkestone_Invicta_F.C.) on a one-month loan deal to gain first-team experience,[4] and had another loan spell later the same season at [Grays Athletic](/source/Grays_Athletic_F.C.).[5] Pugh made his debut for Grays starting in the 1–1 home draw against [Weymouth](/source/Weymouth_F.C.).[6] His loan spell at Grays was extended until the end of the [2008–09](/source/2008%E2%80%9309_in_English_football) season, despite Gillingham manager [Mark Stimson](/source/Mark_Stimson)'s wishes to recall him.[7][8] Pugh was [sent-off](/source/Ejection_(sports)) in Grays' 2–1 away defeat on 13 April, ruling him out of the last three games of the Conference National season.[9]

In September 2009, Pugh joined [Dover Athletic](/source/Dover_Athletic_F.C.) on a month's loan after [Andy Hessenthaler](/source/Andy_Hessenthaler)'s side were hampered by injuries.[10] Pugh scored a debut goal for Dover in a 4–2 victory over [Hampton & Richmond Borough](/source/Hampton_%26_Richmond_Borough_F.C.). Welling United re-signed Pugh on a one-month loan deal in November.[11] In March 2010, Pugh joined [Conference National](/source/Conference_National) side [Histon](/source/Histon_F.C.) on loan for a month.[12] His contract at Gillingham finished at the end of that season, and was not renewed. After his Gillingham contract finished Pugh, along with [Luis Cumbers](/source/Luis_Cumbers), signed for Welling.[13]

On 25 January 2012, Pugh signed for [Cambridge United](/source/Cambridge_United_F.C.) on a two-and-a-half-year contract for a fee of £15,000. The transfer was protracted throughout the January transfer window as Pugh was unable to take a medical at the due to a knee injury.[14] On 9 January 2014, Pugh had signed a one-month loan deal to join [Dartford](/source/Dartford_F.C.) alongside fellow Cambridge United player Rory McAuley.[15] He was recalled back to the [Abbey Stadium](/source/Abbey_Stadium) on 14 February 2014, ready to take part in the club's [FA Trophy](/source/FA_Trophy) semi-final against [Grimsby Town](/source/Grimsby_Town_F.C.). Pugh was released by Cambridge on 27 May 2014.

On 23 August 2019, Pugh joined [East Thurrock United](/source/East_Thurrock_United_F.C.) on dual registration terms.[16]

On 28 February 2020, Pugh joined [Sevenoaks Town](/source/Sevenoaks_Town_F.C.) on dual registration terms.[17]

On 22 June 2020, Pugh joined [Chatham Town](/source/Chatham_Town_F.C.) ahead of the 2020–21 season.[18]
