'''Andrew Michael Middlehurst''' (born 16 July 1962) is a British [racing driver](/source/racing_driver). Middlehurst runs a successful Nissan dealership (Middlehurst Nissan) in the North West of England that is famed for its involvement with the [Nissan Skyline GT-R](/source/Nissan_Skyline_GT-R), resulting it being officially imported into the country and more recently the [Nissan GT-R R35](/source/Nissan_GTR_R35).

After starting his career on motorcycles in Junior Grass track and Speedway, Middlehurst first raced in cars in 1980 in [Formula Ford](/source/Formula_Ford). After becoming Dunlop Star of Tomorrow Champion in 1982 his early racing included Formula Ford 1600, racing against [Ayrton Senna](/source/Ayrton_Senna) in 1981. Middlehurst went on to [rallying](/source/rallying) in national and international rallies, including the 1984 [RAC Rally](/source/RAC_Rally) and Ypres 24 Hours Rally in 1986,<ref>{{Cite web |date= |title=Andy Middlehurst |url=https://www.ewrc-results.com/profile/38741-andy-middlehurst/ |access-date=12 October 2023 |website=EWRC}}</ref> in which he took class honours at the wheel of [Toyota Corolla GT](/source/Toyota_Corolla_GT_AE86).

Middlehurst took Class C titles in the BARC Production Saloon Car Championship in both 1988 and 1989 driving a [Volkswagen Golf GTI](/source/Volkswagen_Golf_GTi).<ref name=":0">{{Cite web |title=Production Saloon Car Championship – BARC (1972-1995) |url=http://motorsportwinners.com/defunct/production-saloon-car-championship-barc/ |access-date=12 October 2023 |website=Motorsport Winners}}</ref> Middlehurst claimed the overall title in 1990 at the wheel of a [Ford Sierra RS Cosworth](/source/Ford_Sierra_RS_Cosworth)<ref name=":0" /> which led to a drive in the [British Touring Car Championship](/source/British_Touring_Car_Championship).

Middlehurst's first full BTCC season came in [1991](/source/1991_British_Touring_Car_Championship_season) for [Graham Goode Racing](/source/Graham_Goode_(racing_driver)) in a [Ford Sierra RS Cosworth](/source/Ford_Sierra_RS_Cosworth). An impressive season which included a podium finish in the final round at [Silverstone](/source/Silverstone_Circuit) saw Middlehurst end the season ninth overall in the standings. In [1992](/source/1992_British_Touring_Car_Championship_season) he drove for the factory [Nissan](/source/Janspeed) team alongside [Keith O'dor](/source/Kieth_O'dor).

In 1993, Middlehurst started competing in the National Saloon Car Championship. He won the championship in 1995 and 1996 at the wheel of a [Nissan Skyline GT-R](/source/Nissan_Skyline_GT-R) and then again in 1997 and 1998 driving a [Nissan Primera](/source/Nissan_Primera).<ref>{{Cite web |title=Production Saloon Car Championship – MCD/BRDC/BRSCC (1972-2003) |url=http://motorsportwinners.com/defunct/production-saloon-car-championship-mcdbrdcbrscc/ |access-date=12 October 2023 |website=Motorsport Winners}}</ref> He returned to the BTCC in [2000](/source/2000_British_Touring_Car_Championship_season) for two rounds at [Oulton Park](/source/Oulton_Park) driving a Nissan Primera in the newly introduced Class B.
