**Andriy Karpov** (born 16 January 1987) also spelt **Andriej Karpov** is a [motorcycle speedway](/source/Motorcycle_speedway) rider from Ukraine.[1][2][3]

## Career

Karpov came to prominence when competing the Polish leagues, initially for the Ukrainian teams in [Polish Speedway Second League](/source/Polish_Speedway_Second_League) but then in the [Ekstraliga](/source/Ekstraliga_(speedway)) for [Rzeszów](/source/Stal_Rzesz%C3%B3w_(motorcycle_speedway)) in [2006](/source/2006_Polish_speedway_season).[2][4]

It was during [2006](/source/2006_Individual_Speedway_Junior_European_Championship) that he won a silver medal at the [European Individual Speedway Junior Championship](/source/European_Under-19_Individual_Speedway_Championship). He quickly gained full international caps for the [Ukraine national speedway team](/source/Ukraine_national_speedway_team) and represented them in the [European Pairs Speedway Championship](/source/European_Pairs_Speedway_Championship).[5]

Karpov reached the final of the [2008 Speedway Under-21 World Championship](/source/2008_Speedway_Under-21_World_Championship) and started competing in the [Individual European Championship](/source/Individual_Speedway_European_Championship), where he won a silver medal at the [2009 Individual Speedway European Championship](/source/2009_Individual_Speedway_European_Championship). He won further medals by winning bronze in [2010](/source/2010_Individual_Speedway_European_Championship) and [2012](/source/2012_Speedway_European_Championship).[6]

He stood as a qualified substitute for the [2011 Speedway Grand Prix](/source/2011_Speedway_Grand_Prix) (the World Championship) after reaching the Grand Prix Challenge final during the [2011 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification](/source/2011_Speedway_Grand_Prix_Qualification).[7] He also started racing in the [Danish Speedway League](/source/Danish_Speedway_League).

His finest moment arrived after he won the gold medal at the [2012 European Pairs Speedway Championship](/source/2012_European_Pairs_Speedway_Championship), where he partnered [Aleksandr Loktaev](/source/Aleksandr_Loktaev).[8] In 2017, he signed for [Smederna](/source/Smederna) in the [Swedish league](/source/Swedish_Speedway_Team_Championship).[9]

He has represented Ukraine three times in the World Cup.[10] He was also named in the 2022 World Cup squad.[11]
