He was a movie journalist for the [NME](/source/NME), [Vox](/source/Vox_(magazine)) and [Total Film](/source/Total_Film) throughout the 1990s and wrote regularly for *[Uncut](/source/Uncut_(magazine))*.[3] Sumner published various magazines for [Emap](/source/Emap)[4] before joining [IPC](/source/TI_Media) as publisher of *[Loaded](/source/Loaded_(magazine))*[5] and *[Uncut](/source/Uncut_(magazine))*.[6][7] He launched *Uncut DVD* [8] and later published *[Now](/source/NOW_magazine_(UK))* magazine.[9] Sumner presented *The Uncut Film* on [Turner Classic Movies](/source/Turner_Classic_Movies_(UK)), a series of contemporary classic movies curated by *[Uncut](/source/Uncut_(magazine))* that ran on TCM UK at 9pm Wednesdays.[10] During his time at IPC, Sumner revived Fleetway's classic British comics library, overseeing [Dirk Maggs](/source/Dirk_Maggs)' *[Adventures of Sexton Blake](/source/Sexton_Blake)* for [BBC Radio 2](/source/BBC_Radio_2), co-publishing (with [DC Comics](/source/DC_Comics)) [Leah Moore](/source/Leah_Moore), [John Reppion](/source/John_Reppion) and [Shane Oakley](/source/Shane_Oakley)'s *[Albion](/source/Albion_(comics))*; [Dave Gibbons](/source/Dave_Gibbons) and [John Higgins](/source/John_Higgins_(comics))' *[Thunderbolt Jaxon](/source/Thunderbolt_Jaxon)*; and [Garth Ennis](/source/Garth_Ennis) and [Colin Wilson](/source/Colin_Wilson_(comics))'s *[Battler Britton](/source/Albion_(comics)#Battler_Britton)*.
