Sinkala captained the Zambia U-20 national football team to both the African Youth Nations [Youth World Cup](/source/Youth_World_Cup) in Nigeria in 1999. He also won his first senior cap in the same year against [Democratic Republic of the Congo](/source/Democratic_Republic_of_the_Congo) in an [Africa Cup of Nations](/source/Africa_Cup_of_Nations) qualifier.

He represented the [Zambia national team](/source/Zambia_national_football_team) at the Africa Cup of Nations in [2000](/source/2000_African_Cup_of_Nations), [2002](/source/2002_African_Cup_of_Nations), [2006](/source/2006_African_Cup_of_Nations) and [2010](/source/2010_African_Cup_of_Nations).

His late father, Moffat Mutambo, also played for [Nchanga Rangers](/source/Nchanga_Rangers_F.C.) and the national soccer team as a defender. Sinkala's brother, [Nathan Sinkala](/source/Nathan_Sinkala), is also a football player and has also played for Zambia.
