Lauer is the Founder President & CEO of ReelAid, a [non-profit organization](/source/non-profit_organization) made up of [filmmakers](/source/filmmakers) from the [Hollywood](/source/Cinema_of_the_United_States) community producing low to no-cost promotional videos for other non-profit organizations who in turn use them to fund-raise and create public awareness.

==Early life==
Lauer was born in [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles) to an [attorney](/source/Lawyer) father and an actress mother. Lauer is a Triathlete having competed in such races as Alcatraz, WildFlower and Malibu. He captained his high school's [gymnastics](/source/gymnastics) team.<ref name="CITC"/>
