# Andrew Gilfillan

**Andrew Douglas Gilfillan** (born 21 August 1959) is a [South African](/source/Demographics_of_South_Africa) former first-class [cricketer](/source/Cricket).

Gilfillan was born at [Johannesburg](/source/Johannesburg) in August 1959. He later studied in England at [Worcester College](/source/Worcester_College,_Oxford) at the [University of Oxford](/source/University_of_Oxford).[1] While studying at Oxford, he played [first-class cricket](/source/First-class_cricket) for [Oxford University](/source/Oxford_University_Cricket_Club) in 1982, making three appearances against [Kent](/source/Kent_County_Cricket_Club), [Gloucestershire](/source/Gloucestershire_County_Cricket_Club) and [Hampshire](/source/Hampshire_County_Cricket_Club).[2] He scored 40 runs in his three matches, with a high score of 33,[3] while with his [leg break](/source/Leg_break) bowling he took 2 wickets,[4] with both coming against Kent with Gilfillan taking the wickets of [Neil Taylor](/source/Neil_Taylor_(cricketer,_born_1959)) and [Chris Cowdrey](/source/Chris_Cowdrey).[5]
