**Sir Andrew William Baker** (born 21 December 1965), styled **The Hon. Mr Justice Andrew Baker**, is a [judge of the High Court of England and Wales](/source/High_Court_judge_(England_and_Wales)).[1] He is currently Judge in Charge of the [Admiralty Court](/source/Admiralty_court).[2]

## Biography

He was educated at [Lenzie Academy](/source/Lenzie_Academy), read mathematics at [Merton College, Oxford](/source/Merton_College%2C_Oxford), and completed a postgraduate diploma in law at [City, University of London](/source/City%2C_University_of_London).[3][1]

He was called to the bar at [Lincoln's Inn](/source/Lincoln's_Inn) in 1988. He was made a judge of the [High Court of Justice](/source/High_Court_of_Justice) ([King's Bench Division](/source/King's_Bench_Division)) in 2016 and invested a knight in the [2016 Special Honours](/source/2016_Special_Honours).[4] He is correctly described as Mr Justice Andrew Baker, distinguishing him from other judges, including [Jeremy Baker](/source/Jeremy_Baker), with the same surname.

In April 2021, he dismissed a billion-dollar lawsuit against British financier [Sanjay Shah](/source/Sanjay_Shah) and several other people. The Danish Tax Agency raised the case in 2018.[5]
