# Andoany

**Andoany**, [formerly](/source/Geographical_renaming) and more commonly known as **Hell-Ville** (after [Anne Chrétien Louis de Hell](/source/Anne_Chr%C3%A9tien_Louis_de_Hell)), is a city in [Diana Region](/source/Diana_Region), [Madagascar](/source/Madagascar), with a population estimated at 39,500 in 2013.[1] It lies on the island of [Nosy Be](/source/Nosy_Be), of which it is the capital. It is located at [13°24′0″S 48°16′0″E](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=13_24_0_S_48_16_0_E).
