# Anatole Chauffard

**Anatole Marie Émile Chauffard** (anatɔl maʁi emil ʃofaʁ; 22 August 1855 – 1 November 1932) was a French [internist](/source/Internist) born in [Avignon](/source/Avignon).

He earned his doctorate in 1882, and became *médecin des hôpitaux*. In 1907 he was appointed professor of [internal medicine](/source/Internal_medicine) at the [Paris](/source/Paris) faculty. He was a member of the [Académie de Médecine](/source/Acad%C3%A9mie_de_M%C3%A9decine), and in 1911 attained the clinical chair at [Hôpital Saint-Antoine](/source/H%C3%B4pital_Saint-Antoine).

Chauffard is remembered for his work involving [liver](/source/Liver) disease and his [pathophysiological](/source/Pathophysiology) research of [hereditary spherocytosis](/source/Hereditary_spherocytosis).[1] His name is associated with the following disorders:
