***Anaphyllopsis*** is a [genus](/source/Genus) of flowering plants in the [family](/source/Family_(taxonomy)) [Araceae](/source/Araceae), native to northern [South America](/source/South_America).[1][2][3]

The genus was created in 1988 by Hay in order to account for the differences of *[Cyrtosperma americanum](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cyrtosperma_americanum&action=edit&redlink=1)* from other *[Cyrtosperma](/source/Cyrtosperma)* species. The decision was to create a genus named *Anaphyllopsis* and rename *Cyrtosperma americanum* as *[Anaphyllopsis americanum](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anaphyllopsis_americanum&action=edit&redlink=1)*. Two other species from the [Amazon](/source/Amazon_rainforest) were subsequently added, *[Anaphyllopsis pinnata](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anaphyllopsis_pinnata&action=edit&redlink=1)* and *[Anaphyllopsis cururuana](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anaphyllopsis_cururuana&action=edit&redlink=1)*. The leaves of *Anaphyllopsis* are characteristic of being [pinnate](/source/Pinnate). *Anaphyllopsis* is quite similar in appearance to the genus *[Anaphyllum](/source/Anaphyllum)*.[4][5][6]
