# Amphimas

***Amphimas*** is a small genus of [flowering plants](/source/Flowering_plant) in the family [Fabaceae](/source/Fabaceae). It belongs to the subfamily [Faboideae](/source/Faboideae). It is a west African tree used for medicine and for wood.[1] *Amphimas* was traditionally assigned to the tribe [Sophoreae](/source/Sophoreae);[2] however, recent [molecular phylogenetic](/source/Molecular_phylogenetic) analyses [reassigned](/source/Circumscription_(taxonomy)) *Amphimas* into an unspecified position in the [Meso-Papilionoideae](/source/Meso-Papilionoideae).[3][4]
