It is run by a group of universities working with the [California Academy of Sciences](/source/California_Academy_of_Sciences): [San Francisco](/source/San_Francisco) State University, the [University of California at Berkeley](/source/University_of_California%2C_Berkeley), [University of Florida](/source/University_of_Florida) at Gainesville, and [University of Texas at Austin](/source/University_of_Texas_at_Austin).

==Origins==

Scientist [David Wake](/source/David_Wake) founded AmphibiaWeb in 2000.
