**Ammerthal** is a municipality in the district of [Amberg-Sulzbach](/source/Amberg-Sulzbach) in [Bavaria](/source/Bavaria) in [Germany](/source/Germany).

## Geography

Apart from Ammerthal the municipality consists of the following four villages:[2]

- Fichtenhof
- Finkenmühle
- Hirnmühle
- Viehberg

## Sport

The town's association football club [DJK Ammerthal](/source/DJK_Ammerthal), formed in 1958, experienced its greatest success in 2012 when it won promotion to the [Bayernliga](/source/Bayernliga) for the first time.
