'''Amerindios''' was a [folk music](/source/folk_music) group from [Chile](/source/Chile) which was active in the years between 1969 and 1973. It was one of the many artists of the [Nueva Canción](/source/Nueva_Canci%C3%B3n) movement, but unlike many other Nueva Canción artists, Amerindios also incorporated instruments such as [electric guitar](/source/electric_guitar)s. The group was formed in [Santiago](/source/Santiago%2C_Chile) in 1969 by [Mario Salazar](/source/Mario_Salazar) and one of the three founders of [Quilapayún](/source/Quilapay%C3%BAn), [Julio Numhauser](/source/Julio_Numhauser).
