# Alssund Bridge

The **Alssund Bridge** ([Danish](/source/Danish_language): *Alssundbroen*) is a 662-metre (2,172-foot) [girder bridge](/source/Girder_bridge) that carries Highway 8 across the [Alssund](/source/Alssund) north of [Sønderborg](/source/S%C3%B8nderborg), [Denmark](/source/Denmark). Constructed between 1978 and 1981, it was officially opened on 19 October 1981 by [Queen Ingrid](/source/Queen_Ingrid_of_Denmark).[1]
