The A3 Castletown to Ramsey road at Alpine Cottage, TT Marshals' Shelter and nearby Alpine House

**Alpine Cottage** ([Manx](/source/Manx_language): *Ballacurnkeil* or the *Narrow or small Ballacurn*) [1] including the adjacent *Alpine House* is situated between the 16th and 17th Milestone road-side markers on the [Snaefell Mountain Course](/source/Snaefell_Mountain_Course) on the primary [A3](/source/A3_road_(Isle_of_Man)) [Castletown](/source/Castletown%2C_Isle_of_Man) to [Ramsey](/source/Ramsey%2C_Isle_of_Man) road in the parish of [Ballaugh](/source/Ballaugh_(parish)) in the [Isle of Man](/source/Isle_of_Man).

Alpine Cottage and nearby [Ballaugh Bridge](/source/Ballaugh_Bridge) were part of the [Highland Course](/source/Highland_Course) and [Four Inch Course](/source/Four_Inch_Course) used for the [Gordon Bennett Trial](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gordon_Bennett_Trial&action=edit&redlink=1) and [Tourist Trophy](/source/RAC_Tourist_Trophy) car races held in the Isle of Man between 1904 and 1922.[2] Alpine Cottage is part of the Snaefell Mountain Course used since 1911 for the [Isle of Man TT](/source/Isle_of_Man_TT) and from 1923 for the [Manx Grand Prix](/source/Manx_Grand_Prix) races.
