Canadian actress (born 1981)

**Aloka Chandra McLean** (born December 21, 1981, in [Halifax](/source/Halifax%2C_Nova_Scotia), [Nova Scotia](/source/Nova_Scotia)) is a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) actress. She is most noted for her role in the film *[The Lotus Eaters](/source/The_Lotus_Eaters_(film))*, for which she received a [Genie Award](/source/Genie_Award) nomination for [Best Actress](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award_for_Best_Actress) at the [14th Genie Awards](/source/14th_Genie_Awards) in 1993.[1] *The Lotus Eaters* was her first film role; around the same time, she had her first stage role playing [Helen Keller](/source/Helen_Keller) in a [Vancouver](/source/Vancouver) production of *[The Miracle Worker](/source/The_Miracle_Worker_(play))*.[2]

McLean also made guest appearances in the television series *[Neon Rider](/source/Neon_Rider)*, *[The X-Files](/source/The_X-Files)* and *[Are You Afraid of the Dark?](/source/Are_You_Afraid_of_the_Dark%3F)*, and the television films *[Justice for Annie: A Moment of Truth Movie](/source/Justice_for_Annie%3A_A_Moment_of_Truth_Movie)* and *[Songs in Ordinary Time](/source/Songs_in_Ordinary_Time_(film))*.
