**Alida Rustichelli** (23 October 1943 – 14 December 2012), known professionally as **Alida Chelli** (Italian pronunciation: [\[aˈliːda ˈkɛlli\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Italian)), was an Italian singer and actress, mainly known for her appearances in stage musicals.

## Biography

### Early life and career

Alida Rustichelli was born in [Carpi](/source/Carpi%2C_Emilia-Romagna), Emilia-Romagna, the daughter of composer [Carlo Rustichelli](/source/Carlo_Rustichelli) and sister of composer [Paolo Rustichelli](/source/Paolo_Rustichelli). She achieved her first success as singer, with the song "Sinnò me moro", which opens the 1959 film *[The Facts of Murder](/source/The_Facts_of_Murder)*.[1][2]

Then, Chelli achieved a major fame on stage, starring in a number of successful musical comedies such as *[Rugantino](/source/Rugantino_(musical))* (1978, together with [Enrico Montesano](/source/Enrico_Montesano)), *Cyrano* (1979, with [Domenico Modugno](/source/Domenico_Modugno)), and *[Aggiungi un posto a tavola](/source/Aggiungi_un_posto_a_tavola)* (1990, with [Johnny Dorelli](/source/Johnny_Dorelli)).[1][2] She has also appeared in several films, mainly comedies, and TV-shows.[1][2]

### Personal life and death

Chelli married Italian actor [Walter Chiari](/source/Walter_Chiari) in 1969, and together they had one son, television presenter Simone Annicchiarico (Chiari's real surname). After their 1972 divorce, Chelli had a relationship with television presenter [Pippo Baudo](/source/Pippo_Baudo).[1][2]

She died in Rome on 14 December 2012, aged 69, after a long illness.[1][2]
