**Ali Ahmed Mabkhout Mohsen Imran [Al Hajeri](/source/Bani_Hajer)** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): عَلِيّ أَحْمَد مَبْخُوت مُحْسِن عِمْرَان الْهَاجِرِيّ; born 5 October 1990) is an Emirati professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [forward](/source/Forward_(association_football)) for [UAE Pro League](/source/UAE_Pro_League) club [Al-Nasr](/source/Al-Nasr_SC_(Dubai)).

Coming through the [youth system](/source/Youth_system), Mabkhout made his debut for [Al Jazira](/source/Al_Jazira_Club)'s first team in 2009.

## Club career

Mabkhout made his [AFC Champions League](/source/AFC_Champions_League) debut against [Al Ittihad](/source/Al-Ittihad_Club_(Jeddah)) on 22 April 2009, after coming on as a substitute.[4] On 19 May 2009, he scored his first Asian Champions League goal in the 49th minute against [Esteghlal](/source/Esteghlal_F.C.) in a 2–2 draw.[5]

Mabkhout formed a partnership with [Ricardo Oliveira](/source/Ricardo_Oliveira), his teammate from 2009 to 2014; this partnership was said to contribute towards the development of Mabkhout's talents in his formative years.[6]

## International career

In the quarter-final of the [2015 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2015_AFC_Asian_Cup), Mabkhout scored the opening goal of a 1–1 draw with [Japan](/source/Japan_national_football_team) at [Stadium Australia](/source/Stadium_Australia) in [Sydney](/source/Sydney); he went on to convert his penalty kick as the UAE defeated the [defending champions](/source/2011_AFC_Asian_Cup) 5–4 in a [penalty shootout](/source/Penalty_shoot-out_(association_football)).[7]

During the [2019 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2019_AFC_Asian_Cup) quarter-finals hosted by the United Arab Emirates, Mabkhout netted the only goal in a 1–0 victory over defending champions [Australia](/source/Australia_men's_national_soccer_team), which qualified his country to the semi-finals.[8]

On 10 October 2019, Mabkhout scored a hat-trick against [Indonesia](/source/Indonesia_national_football_team) in a 5–0 win to become UAE's all-time leading goalscorer.[9][note 1]

Mabkhout was called up for the [2023 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2023_AFC_Asian_Cup) in Qatar, yet he surprisingly was not able to feature in any match during the competition under coach [Paulo Bento](/source/Paulo_Bento).[11]
