# Alfred Gordon

**Alfred Gordon** (1874, [Paris](/source/Paris) – 1953) was a [French](/source/France)-born [American](/source/United_States) [neurologist](/source/Neurologist) remembered for describing [Gordon's sign](/source/Gordon's_sign). He studied medicine at the [University of Paris](/source/University_of_Paris), qualifying in 1895. He worked in Paris, [Bern](/source/Bern) and [Munich](/source/Munich), and emigrated to the United States in 1899. He lived in [Philadelphia](/source/Philadelphia) and was an instructor of neuropathology at the [Jefferson Medical College](/source/Thomas_Jefferson_University). His best-known work was *On the Study of Reflexes*.[1]
