# Alfred Earnshaw

**Alfred Earnshaw** (7 August 1814 – 8 March 1895) was an English [cricketer](/source/Cricket). Earnshaw's [batting](/source/Batting_(cricket)) style is unknown. He was born at [Bloomsbury](/source/Bloomsbury), [Middlesex](/source/Middlesex).

Earnshaw made his [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) debut for the [Surrey Club](/source/Surrey_Club) against the [Marylebone Cricket Club](/source/Marylebone_Cricket_Club) at [Lord's](/source/Lord's) in 1846.[1] The following year he made his debut for [Surrey](/source/Surrey_County_Cricket_Club) against the Marylebone Cricket Club. He made three further first-class appearances for Surrey in 1847, playing twice against [Kent](/source/Kent_County_Cricket_Club) and one further match against the Marylebone Cricket Club.[1] Earnshaw made a total of five appearances in first-class cricket, scoring a total of 62 at an [average](/source/Batting_average_(cricket)) of 6.20, with a high score of 15.[2]

He died at [Bromley](/source/Bromley), Kent on 8 March 1895. His son [George Earnshaw](/source/George_Earnshaw_(cricketer)) also played first-class cricket.
