**Alfred Dennis** (born **Alfred Medinets**; December 26, 1922 – August 1, 2016) was an American film and television actor.[1] He was known for playing Irving in the 1979 film *[The Jerk](/source/The_Jerk)* and the Barber in the 1976 film *[The Shootist](/source/The_Shootist)*.[2]

Born in the United States, Dennis guest-starred in numerous television programs including *[Knots Landing](/source/Knots_Landing)*, *[The Monkees](/source/The_Monkees_(TV_series))*, *[Who's the Boss?](/source/Who's_the_Boss%3F)*, *[The A-Team](/source/The_A-Team)*, *[Monk](/source/Monk_(TV_series))*, *[Perfect Strangers](/source/Perfect_Strangers_(TV_series))*, *[Fantasy Island](/source/Fantasy_Island)* and *[The Golden Girls](/source/The_Golden_Girls)*. He died in August 2016[3] in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 93.
