**Alexis Pierre Caron** (8 March 1899 – 31 August 1966) was a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) politician. Caron was a [Liberal Party](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Canada) member of the [House of Commons of Canada](/source/House_of_Commons_of_Canada).

## Biography

He was born in [Hull, Quebec](/source/Hull,_Quebec) and became an insurance broker by career.

He was first elected to the [Legislative Assembly of Quebec](/source/Legislative_Assembly_of_Quebec) at the [Hull](/source/Hull_(provincial_electoral_district)) provincial riding in [1935](/source/1935_Quebec_general_election) for the [Quebec Liberal Party](/source/Quebec_Liberal_Party), then defeated in [1936](/source/1936_Quebec_general_election), returned in [1939](/source/1939_Quebec_general_election), defeated again in [1944](/source/1944_Quebec_general_election) and [1948](/source/1948_Quebec_general_election).

Caron was mayor of [Hull, Quebec](/source/Hull,_Quebec) from April 1953 to April 1955. During this time, he entered national politics by winning the [Hull](/source/Hull_(electoral_district)) riding in the [1953 federal election](/source/1953_Canadian_federal_election). He was then re-elected there in the [1957](/source/1957_Canadian_federal_election), [1958](/source/1958_Canadian_federal_election), [1962](/source/1962_Canadian_federal_election), [1963](/source/1963_Canadian_federal_election) and [1965 federal elections](/source/1965_Canadian_federal_election). Caron ended his Parliamentary career in 1966 shortly before his death during his term in the [27th Canadian Parliament](/source/27th_Canadian_Parliament).

Caron was Liberal party [whip](/source/Whip_(politics)) in 1963.
