English actress

**Alexandra Dane** (born *c*. 1940[1][2] in [Bethlehem](/source/Bethlehem%2C_Free_State), [Free State](/source/Free_State_(South_African_province)), [South Africa](/source/South_Africa)) is an English actress who appeared in many films including *[Carry On Doctor](/source/Carry_On_Doctor)*, *[Carry On Loving](/source/Carry_On_Loving)*, other *Carry On* films, *[The Ups and Downs of a Handyman](/source/The_Ups_and_Downs_of_a_Handyman)*, *[Le Pétomane](/source/Le_P%C3%A9tomane_(film))* and [Terry Gilliam](/source/Terry_Gilliam)'s *[Jabberwocky](/source/Jabberwocky_(1977_film)).*

Her many television appearances include *[Not On Your Nellie](/source/Not_On_Your_Nellie)*, *[Alas Smith and Jones](/source/Alas_Smith_and_Jones)* and *Pulaski*. In 1975, Dane took the part of Nefertiti Skupinski, described as "O'Brien's voluptuous, South African-bred daughter", in [*The Melting Pot*](/source/The_Melting_Pot_(television_programme)). This was a sitcom written by [Spike Milligan](/source/Spike_Milligan) and [Neil Shand](/source/Neil_Shand), which was cancelled by the BBC after just one episode had been broadcast.[3]

On stage, she appeared in summer seasons at British seaside resorts such as [Torquay](/source/Torquay) and [Blackpool](/source/Blackpool), in repertory theatres and with the Shakespeare Theatre Group. She is also interested in painting and sculpting and was married to the Scottish sculptor [David McFall](/source/David_McFall) until his death.[1]
