**Alex Ojahn Matos** (born 3 October 2004) is an English professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [midfielder](/source/Midfielder) for [EFL Championship](/source/EFL_Championship) club [Sheffield United](/source/Sheffield_United_F.C.).

## Club career

### Early career

Born in [Bedford](/source/Bedford), educated at Langley School, Norfolk. Matos started his career with [Kempston Colts](/source/Kempston_Rovers_F.C.), later joining [Luton Town](/source/Luton_Town_F.C.) at under-9 level,[3][4] before joining [Norwich City](/source/Norwich_City_F.C.) in 2016.[5] Matos can play in attacking midfield, either wing or as a striker.[6] He became a regular for Norwich's Under-18s during the 2022–23 season.[7] He also made his debut for the Under-21s and scored three goals in the [Premier League 2](/source/Premier_League_2) for the latter.[8]

### Chelsea

On 1 July 2023, Matos signed for [Premier League](/source/Premier_League) side [Chelsea](/source/Chelsea_F.C.).[9] The transfer was reported as a free transfer with add-ons.[10]

On 2 October 2023, a day before his 19th birthday, Matos made his professional debut in the [Premier League](/source/Premier_League) match against [Fulham](/source/Fulham_F.C.). He came off the bench in stoppage time, replacing [Enzo Fernández](/source/Enzo_Fern%C3%A1ndez) in a 2–0 away victory.[11]

#### Loan to Huddersfield

On 4 January 2024, Matos signed for [EFL Championship](/source/EFL_Championship) side [Huddersfield Town](/source/Huddersfield_Town_A.F.C.) on loan until the end of the season.[12] He scored his first senior goal in a 5–3 defeat to [Southampton](/source/Southampton_F.C.).[13] He made 19 league appearances for the Terriers as Huddersfield were relegated to [League One](/source/EFL_League_One).

#### Loan to Oxford United

On 10 January 2025, Matos joined EFL Championship side [Oxford United](/source/Oxford_United_F.C.) on loan until the end of the season.[14]

### Sheffield United

On 1 September 2025, Matos made a permanent move to EFL Championship club [Sheffield United](/source/Sheffield_United_F.C.) for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal.[15]

## International career

Matos is of [Ghanaian descent](/source/Ghanaians_in_the_United_Kingdom).[3] He has represented England at the under-15 level.[16][17]

On 7 June 2024, Matos made his [England U20](/source/England_national_under-20_football_team) debut during a 2–1 win over [Sweden](/source/Sweden_national_under-20_football_team) at [Stadion ŠRC Sesvete](/source/Stadion_%C5%A0RC_Sesvete).[18]
