# Alex Cook (fighter)

**Alex Cook** (born 2 May 1973) is a retired [Australian](/source/Australians)[1] [mixed martial artist](/source/Mixed_martial_arts).

Cook is a veteran of the [Shooto](/source/Shooto) and [Pancrase](/source/Pancrase) organizations, making his debut in 1994 to a loss to [Manabu Yamada](/source/Manabu_Yamada) at [Pancrase: Road To The Championship 5](/source/1994_in_Pancrase#Pancrase:_Road_to_the_Championship_5). After frequent losses to [Ken Shamrock](/source/Ken_Shamrock) and [Masakatsu Funaki](/source/Masakatsu_Funaki), Cook would later jump to Shooto with fellow Australian fighter and trainer [Larry Papadopoulos](/source/Larry_Papadopoulos) with better success such as a win over [Jutaro Nakao](/source/Jutaro_Nakao). He compiled a 4-2 record during his time in Shooto and would later depart the organization in 2000.
