**Aldrich Bowker** (January 1, 1875 – March 21, 1947) was an American stage and film actor.[1]

## Biography

Bowker was born in [Ashby, Massachusetts](/source/Ashby%2C_Massachusetts).[1] He graduated from Fitchburg High School.[1] His debut came in Boston in a stage adaptation of *The Christian*, by [Hall Caine](/source/Hall_Caine).[2]

He was a long-time stage performer in [Chicago](/source/Chicago) and [Cincinnati](/source/Cincinnati), and in summer stock at [amusement park](/source/Amusement_park) [Whalom Park](/source/Whalom_Park) in [Lunenburg, Massachusetts](/source/Lunenburg%2C_Massachusetts). Bowker was a pioneer in "open air" theatre at Whalom Park and at his [summer home](/source/Cambridge_Grant_Historic_District#Twentieth_century) in [Ashburnham](/source/Ashburnham%2C_Massachusetts), where other performers were frequent guests, including Ainsworth Arnold and [Bette Davis](/source/Bette_Davis).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

Between 1912 and 1938 he was active on [Broadway](/source/Broadway_theatre). Notable stage plays he performed in were *The High Road* (1912), *A Night in Avignon* (1919), *[You Can't Take It With You](/source/You_Can't_Take_It_With_You_(play))* (1936) and *200 Were Chosen* (1936).[3]

Between 1939 and 1942 he appeared in about 25 films,[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] including *[Ball of Fire](/source/Ball_of_Fire)* (1941).[4]

Bowker died at [Patton State Hospital](/source/Patton_State_Hospital) in San Bernardino, California, from [arteriosclerosis](/source/Arteriosclerosis) and [senility](/source/Dementia).[5]
