Born in [Castellammare di Stabia](/source/Castellammare_di_Stabia), the [Province of Naples](/source/Province_of_Naples), Schettino started his career at [Torino Calcio](/source/Torino_F.C.) in the northern city of [Turin](/source/Turin). In June 2002 signed by [Roma](/source/A.S._Roma) in [co-ownership](/source/co-ownership_(football)) deal, which Torino also got [Daniele Martinetti](/source/Daniele_Martinetti) in co-ownership in exchange.
