==Biography==
Mauer was initially a footballer, playing for [Pogoń Lwów](/source/Pogo%C5%84_Lw%C3%B3w) youth and regular teams. He later began to focus on ice hockey, representing the [Polish national team](/source/Poland_national_ice_hockey_team) 14 times. In 1932, he was part of the team that finished fourth in the [Olympic tournament](/source/Ice_hockey_at_the_1932_Winter_Olympics).
