# Albert Kaye

**Albert Kaye** (30 April 1872 – 16 September 1935) was an English professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played as a [centre-forward](/source/Centre-forward) in the [Football League](/source/Football_League) for [Sheffield Wednesday](/source/Sheffield_Wednesday_F.C.) and [Stockport County](/source/Stockport_County_F.C.). He also played for [Chatham](/source/Chatham_F.C.), [West Ham United](/source/West_Ham_United_F.C.), and [Distillery](/source/Lisburn_Distillery_F.C.).[2]

Kaye played for [Staveley](/source/Staveley_F.C.) and Eckington before joining Sheffield Wednesday for the [1897–98](/source/1897%E2%80%9398_Sheffield_Wednesday_F.C._season) season.[2]

After a spell at Chatham, he joined West Ham United along with [Walter Tranter](/source/Walter_Tranter) for the start of their inaugural season of [1900–01](/source/1900%E2%80%9301_West_Ham_United_F.C._season).[3] There, he played mainly as [inside-left](/source/Inside-left), appearing once as a centre-forward and twice as [left-winger](/source/Outside_left). He was part of the team that played in West Ham's first fixture against [Gravesend United](/source/Gravesend_United_F.C.), which the Hammers won 7–0.[1] In all, he made 14 [Southern League First Division](/source/Southern_Football_League) and six [FA Cup](/source/FA_Cup) appearances for the east London club, his final appearance coming on 12 January 1901 against [Bristol City](/source/Bristol_City_F.C.).[4] In June 1901, he and Tranter joined Belfast club [Distillery](/source/Lisburn_Distillery_F.C.).[5][6]

He returned to England and League football with [Stockport County](/source/Stockport_County_F.C.) in 1903.[2]
