**Alan van Sprang** (born June 19, 1971) is a Canadian actor[1] best known for playing [Sir Francis Bryan](/source/Francis_Bryan) in the series *[The Tudors](/source/The_Tudors)*,[2] appearing in the *[Living Dead](/source/Living_Dead)* films of [George A. Romero](/source/George_A._Romero)[2] and for playing [King Henry](/source/Henry_II_of_France) on The CW's original series *[Reign](/source/Reign_(TV_series))*.[3] He also portrayed Valentine Morgenstern on Freeform's hit show, *[Shadowhunters](/source/Shadowhunters)*.[4][5]

## Personal life

Van Sprang is the son of musician Van Louis, a former member of rock band [The Stampeders](/source/The_Stampeders).[1] Van Sprang has a son named Logan.[2]
