**Alan Goehring** (born February 21, 1962) is an American retired [junk bond](/source/High-yield_debt) analyst and trader from [Henderson, Nevada](/source/Henderson%2C_Nevada). At the age of 37, he became a professional [poker](/source/Poker) player.

Goehring first made his mark on the poker circuit when he finished in 3rd place in the $3,000 No Limit Hold-Em event at the [1997 World Series of Poker](/source/1997_World_Series_of_Poker) (WSOP).[1] He won $61,845 in the [tournament](/source/Poker_tournament), which was won by [Max Stern](/source/Max_Stern_(poker_player)) and also featured [Kathy Liebert](/source/Kathy_Liebert), [Chris Ferguson](/source/Chris_Ferguson), [Donnacha O'Dea](/source/Donnacha_O'Dea), and [Dan Harrington](/source/Dan_Harrington).

In [1999](/source/1999_World_Series_of_Poker), Goehring finished 2nd in the WSOP $10,000 No Limit Hold-Em Main Event to [Noel Furlong](/source/Noel_Furlong). He won $768,625 for his efforts.[2]

Goehring eventually overcame this status by winning the [World Poker Tour](/source/World_Poker_Tour) (WPT) $25,000 season 1 championship, overcoming [Russian](/source/Russia) player [Kirill Gerasimov](/source/Kirill_Gerasimov) in the eventual heads-up confrontation to take home a $1,011,886 grand prize.[3] The final table also included [Phil Ivey](/source/Phil_Ivey), [Doyle Brunson](/source/Doyle_Brunson) and [Ted Forrest](/source/Ted_Forrest).

Goehring made two final tables in the WPT's [4th season](/source/World_Poker_Tour_season_4_results). He finished 6th at the 2005 WPT €10,000 Grand Prix de Paris, eventually won by [Roland De Wolfe](/source/Roland_De_Wolfe). He went on to win the LA Poker Classic later in the season, winning a [then-WPT record-breaking](/source/Record-Breaking_World_Poker_Tour_First_Prizes) $2,391,550.[4] In the 2020 WSOP Online, he won his first bracelet in a $500 No Limit Hold'em Freezout tournament.[5]

As of 2023, his total live tournament winnings exceed $5,300,000.[6] His 6 cashes at the WSOP account for $851,575 of those winnings.[7]
