'''Al Vergara''' (born December 20, 1979) is a Filipino professional [basketball](/source/basketball) coach and former player. He serves as an assistant coach for the [Lyceum Pirates](/source/Lyceum_Pirates_basketball) of the [Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League](/source/Maharlika_Pilipinas_Basketball_League) (MPBL).

Vergara started off his professional career with the [Singapore Slingers](/source/Singapore_Slingers) in the inaugural [Asean Basketball League](/source/Asean_Basketball_League) and played there for two seasons before joining [Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants](/source/Purefoods_Tender_Juicy_Giants) in the [Philippine Basketball Association](/source/Philippine_Basketball_Association) on loan from the Slingers, for the [2009 PBA Fiesta Conference](/source/2009_PBA_Fiesta_Conference).<ref>{{usurped|1=[https://web.archive.org/web/20090326015903/http://www.purefoodsbasketball.com/players/purefoods-signs-al-vergara/ Purefoods signs Al Vergara]}}</ref>

An undrafted player in the [2006 PBA Draft](/source/2006_PBA_Draft), he played collegiately for the [St. Francis of Assisi College Golden Doves](/source/Saint_Francis_of_Assisi_College_System), with PBA players [Yancy](/source/Yancy_de_Ocampo) and [Ranidel de Ocampo](/source/Ranidel_de_Ocampo), [Ervin Sotto](/source/Ervin_Sotto), and Erick Canlas.

Known for his athleticism, efficiency, and excellent plays, Vergara is best remembered for his role in the so-called [Harbour Centre](/source/Harbour_Centre_Batang_Pier) dynasty in the amateur [Philippine Basketball League](/source/Philippine_Basketball_League) from 2006 to date.
