**Al Muharraq Stadium** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): ملعب المحرق), also known as the **Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): ملعب الشيخ علي بن محمد آل خليفة), is a multi-use [stadium](/source/Stadium) situated in [Arad](/source/Arad%2C_Bahrain), [Bahrain](/source/Bahrain). It is used mostly for [football](/source/Football_(soccer)) matches and is the home ground of [Muharraq Club](/source/Muharraq_Club) and [Bahrain SC](/source/Bahrain_SC).[1] The stadium holds 20,000 people.

The stadium underwent maintenance works – overseen by Malaysian firm Michael KC Cheah & Partners – for a month during September 2012 to catch up to modern standards.[2]

## History

Al Muharraq Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in [Muharraq](/source/Muharraq), [Bahrain](/source/Bahrain). It serves as the home ground of [Muharraq Club](/source/Al-Muharraq_SC), one of the most successful football clubs in [Bahrain](/source/Bahrain).
