Established in 1987, the club has experienced periods of both relegation and promotion throughout its history. They first played in the [Lebanese Premier League](/source/Lebanese_Premier_League) in 1989, and won one [Lebanese FA Cup](/source/2007%E2%80%9308_Lebanese_FA_Cup) in 2008.[2]

## History

Mabarra officially launched in 1987, emerging from the Imam Al-Khoei Charity, the first institution established by the Al-Mabarrat Association.[5] Originally created to serve orphans and underprivileged youth cared for by the association, the club aimed to foster both physical and moral development through sports.[5] It joined the [Lebanese Football Association](/source/Lebanese_Football_Association) in the same year and gradually ascended through the league system, reaching the [Lebanese Premier League](/source/Lebanese_Premier_League) in the [2002–03 season](/source/2002%E2%80%9303_Lebanese_Premier_League).[5]

The club quickly became a consistent competitor in Lebanon’s top football competitions.[5] Mabarra’s first major achievement came in [2008](/source/2007%E2%80%9308_Lebanese_FA_Cup) when it won the [Lebanese FA Cup](/source/Lebanese_FA_Cup), followed by a runner-up finish in [2010](/source/2009%E2%80%9310_Lebanese_FA_Cup).[5] The club also participated in the [AFC Cup](/source/AFC_Cup) in [2009](/source/2009_AFC_Cup), securing notable victories over [Erbil](/source/Erbil_SC) (Iraq) and [Al-Arabi](/source/Al-Arabi_SC_(Kuwait)) (Kuwait).[5]

Mabarra was relegated to the Second Division following the [2013–14 season](/source/2013%E2%80%9314_Lebanese_Premier_League).[3] In the years that followed, the club alternated between attempting to return to the First Division and fighting to avoid relegation to the Third Division.[3]

A turning point came ahead of the [2023–24 season](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2023%E2%80%9324_Lebanese_Second_Division&action=edit&redlink=1) when Ali Haidar became club president and began restructuring the team.[3] During the [2024–25 season](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2024%E2%80%9325_Lebanese_Second_Division&action=edit&redlink=1), Mabarra secured promotion to the Premier League in June 2025 by defeating [Ahly Nabatieh](/source/Al_Ahly_SC_Nabatieh) 4–2 in a decisive match.[3]
