# Al Endress

**Albert James Endress** (February 18, 1929 – November 9, 2023) was an American [football](/source/American_football) defensive end who played for the [San Francisco 49ers](/source/San_Francisco_49ers). He first played [college football](/source/College_football) at [Saint Mary's College of California](/source/Saint_Mary's_College_of_California) before transferring to [San Francisco State University](/source/San_Francisco_State_University). He attended [St. Elizabeth High School](/source/St._Elizabeth_High_School_(Oakland,_California)) in [Oakland, California](/source/Oakland,_California).[1] Endress died on November 9, 2023, at the age of 94.[2]
