Al-Hasakah Governorate. {{in lang|ar}}</ref> According to the Kurdish news agency "Rudaw", the [Ba'athist Party](/source/Arab_Socialist_Ba'ath_Party_%E2%80%93_Syria_Region) under President [Hafez al-Assad](/source/Hafez_al-Assad) changed the name of the town to Al-Muabbada.<ref name="girkelege"/> The town is 35 kilometres from the [Iraqi border](/source/Iraq%E2%80%93Syria_border) and 15 kilometres from the [Turkish border](/source/Syria%E2%80%93Turkey_border).<ref name="ips"/> As of 2004, Al-Muabbada is the eighth largest town in Al-Hasakah governorate. On 24 July 2012, the [PYD](/source/Democratic_Union_Party_(Syria)) announced that Syrian security forces withdrew from Al-Muabbada.
