**Akard station** is a [DART rail](/source/DART_rail) station in [Downtown](/source/Downtown_Dallas) [Dallas, Texas](/source/Dallas). Located along Pacific Avenue between Akard Street and Field Street, the station serves [Thanks-Giving Square](/source/Thanks-Giving_Square), [Santander Tower](/source/Santander_Tower), [Renaissance Tower](/source/Renaissance_Tower_(Dallas)), and Downtown Dallas's [Main Street District](/source/Main_Street_District%2C_Dallas), including [Pegasus Plaza](/source/Pegasus_Plaza), the [Kirby Building](/source/Kirby_Building), the [*Eye*](/source/Eye_(sculpture)) sculpture, and the [Adolphus Hotel](/source/Adolphus_Hotel). The station also serves DART's headquarters and customer service center, which are located in the [Sanger Harris Building](/source/Sanger_Harris_Building) on the station's north side.

The station serves all four of the system's light rail lines ([Red](/source/Red_Line_(DART)), [Blue](/source/Blue_Line_(DART)), [Green](/source/Green_Line_(DART)), and [Orange](/source/Orange_Line_(DART))), as well as a weekday express route to [Glenn Heights Park & Ride](/source/Glenn_Heights_Park_%26_Ride), which boards from Field Street.[3]

The station opened on June 14, 1996 as part of the original light rail system.[4]
