# Ajay Sastry

**Ajay Sastry** (26 July 1974 – 2 August 2024) was an Indian film director and writer who directed his maiden film called *[Nenu Meeku Telusa](/source/Nenu_Meeku_Telusa)* (2008).[1]

## Life and career

His journey started with a short film called "12" (Baarah) that was produced by [KAD Movies](/source/KAD_Movies) and [Rana Daggubati](/source/Rana_Daggubati). In the past, he played the role of associate director and screenplay writer for movies such as *[Rakhi](/source/Rakhi_(2006_film))* and *[Danger](/source/Danger_(2005_film))*.[1]

Ajay was also the lead singer of rock bands like "Alter Egoz"[2] and "Jekyll and Hyde".[3][4]

He shifted to being an ad and film-maker.[1]

He directed his maiden film called *[Nenu Meeku Telusa](/source/Nenu_Meeku_Telusa)* starring [Manchu Manoj](/source/Manchu_Manoj), [Sneha Ullal](/source/Sneha_Ullal) and [Riya Sen](/source/Riya_Sen). Though the film did not perform well, the film was noted for being different.[5]

Sastry died on 2 August 2024, at the age of 50.[6]
