# AirLony Highlander

The **AirLony Highlander** is a [Czech](/source/Czech_Republic) [ultralight](/source/Ultralight_aircraft) [biplane](/source/Biplane) that was designed and produced by [AirLony](/source/AirLony) of [Štětí](/source/%C5%A0t%C4%9Bt%C3%AD), introduced in 1998.[1][2]

## Design and development

The aircraft was designed to comply with the [Fédération Aéronautique Internationale](/source/F%C3%A9d%C3%A9ration_A%C3%A9ronautique_Internationale) microlight rules. It features a biplane wing configuration, a two-seats-in-[tandem](/source/Tandem) open cockpit, fixed [conventional landing gear](/source/Conventional_landing_gear) and a single engine in [tractor configuration](/source/Tractor_configuration).[1][2]

The aircraft has a composite [fuselage](/source/Fuselage) and wooden-framed 7.3 m (24.0 ft) span wings with [doped](/source/Aircraft_dope) [aircraft fabric covering](/source/Aircraft_fabric_covering). Engines in the 80 to 120 hp (60 to 89 kW) can be used. The Highlander was designed for, but never approved for [aerobatics](/source/Aerobatics).[1][2]
