==Geography==
A farming area comprising the village and several hamlets situated in the valley of the [Creuse](/source/Creuse_(river)), some {{convert|15|km|abbr=on}} southeast of Guéret, at the junction of the D942, D13 and the D18.
It was the [Roman](/source/ancient_Rome) site of ''Acitodunum'', an important town on the route between [Limoges](/source/Limoges) and [Clermont-Ferrand](/source/Clermont-Ferrand).
