He won Bahrain's first Asian Games medal and Asian Games gold medal, doing so in the men's 400 metres hurdles at the [1982 Asian Games](/source/1982_Asian_Games) and [1986 Asian Games](/source/1986_Asian_Games) respectively. His other include him being a three-time [Arab Champion](/source/Arab_Athletics_Championships), two-time [Arab Games](/source/Arab_Games) champion, two-time [Asian Champion](/source/Asian_Athletics_Championships), and [AAA Champion](/source/AAA_Championships).
Jassim was selected to be part of the first Bahraini delegation at the Summer Olympics, being part of the team at the [1984 Summer Olympics](/source/1984_Summer_Olympics). He also competed at the [1988 Summer Olympics](/source/1988_Summer_Olympics) and was designated as the flag bearer for the nation during the opening ceremony. After his career, he was again designated the flag bearer, doing so at the [2004 Summer Olympics](/source/2004_Summer_Olympics).
