UK government select committee, to 2001

The **Agriculture Select Committee** was a [select committee](/source/Select_committee_(United_Kingdom)) of the [House of Commons](/source/House_of_Commons_of_the_United_Kingdom) in the [Parliament of the United Kingdom](/source/Parliament_of_the_United_Kingdom). It was dissolved in 2001 and replaced by the [Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee](/source/Environment%2C_Food_and_Rural_Affairs_Select_Committee) following the replacement of the [Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries](/source/Ministry_of_Agriculture%2C_Fisheries_and_Food_(United_Kingdom)) with the [Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs](/source/Department_for_Environment%2C_Food_and_Rural_Affairs).

## Remit

The select committee scrutinised the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food[1][2] and the [agricultural industry](/source/Agriculture_in_the_United_Kingdom).[3]
