Genus of lichen

Aggregatorygma Scientific classification Kingdom: Fungi Division: Ascomycota Class: Lecanoromycetes Order: Graphidales Family: Graphidaceae Genus: Aggregatorygma M.Cáceres, Aptroot & Lücking, 2014 Type species Aggregatorygma triseptatum M.Cáceres, Aptroot & Lücking, 2014

***Aggregatorygma*** is a small [genus](/source/Genus) of [lichenized fungi](/source/Lichenized_fungi) in the family [Graphidaceae](/source/Graphidaceae).[1]

It was [circumscribed](/source/Circumscription_(taxonomy)) in 2014 by Marcela Cáceres, [André Aptroot](/source/Andr%C3%A9_Aptroot), and [Robert Lücking](/source/Robert_L%C3%BCcking) as a [monotypic](/source/Monotypic) genus, with *[Aggregatorygma triseptatum](/source/Aggregatorygma_triseptatum)* as its only species.[2][3] Two species have since been added: *[Aggregatorygma submuriforme](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aggregatorygma_submuriform&action=edit&redlink=1)* in 2020 and *[Aggregatorygma lichexanthonicum](/source/Aggregatorygma_lichexanthonicum)* in 2022, both by Aptroot.[4][5]

The genus name is a combination of two words. *Aggregato* is from the [Latin](/source/Latin) word meaning "aggregated",[6] while *rygma* is from the [Ancient Greek](/source/Ancient_Greek) word *ρήγμα*, meaning "crack".[7]

Species in the genus are [corticolous](/source/Corticolous_lichen), growing on the bark of tree trunks in [rainforest](/source/Rainforest). All three species were first discovered in Brazil.[3][4][5]
