The '''Afram River''' is a {{convert|100|km|mi|adj=on}} river in [Ghana](/source/Ghana). Prior to the construction of the [Akosombo Dam](/source/Akosombo_Dam) in the 1960s, the Afram is a principal tributary of the [Volta River](/source/Volta_River) and today is an equally important tributary of [Lake Volta](/source/Lake_Volta). The river runs roughly in a southwesterly direction.
