An **affine vector field** (sometimes **affine collineation** or **affine**) is a [projective vector field](/source/Projective_vector_field) preserving [geodesics](/source/Geodesic) and preserving the [affine parameter](/source/Affine_parameter). Mathematically, this is expressed by the following condition:
